The 7th Annual Randy Roede Memorial Coyote Calling Contest was held Dec. 9, 2023. We registered 21 teams, hunted in 40 mile per hour winds, and had 13 teams check in 36 coyotes. Since 2017, the Roede contest has harvested nearly 400 coyotes!

1st PLACE | Thad Rose and Jeremy Ferguson with 8 coyotes and a total weight of 188.36 pounds. They also brough in the smallest dog weighed to date at 12.23 pounds! The coyote came out of the den licking a foot wound so it obviously hadn’t been eating or doing too well. Usually these two are weighing in the big dog!

2nd PLACE | went to a father and son duo and two of our faves – Rocky and Dean Longbrake – weighing 6 coyotes with a total weigh of 153.59 pounds. We are so proud of these two! Dean is 11 years old and killing it out there. They called in a triple during this hunt. Dean continues to put in the time and the miles with his dad – learning from the best. A true coyote slayer.

3rd PLACE | was another team from up north – Dysan and Lou Lends His Horse – weighing in 4 coyotes with a total weight of 115.13 pounds. These two also weighed in the big dog of 38.85 pounds. 

4th PLACE | goes to the brother team of Jeff Rheborg and Richard Siedschlaw weighing in 3 coyotes with a total weight of 78.36 pounds.
